NAPLES BALLET, INC. PRESENTS THE NUTCRACKER-CHRISTMAS 2011
Local ballet students from a variety of Southwest Florida dance academies as well as adults from the community are being given the chance to participate in this year’s production of the Nutcracker being produced by Naples Ballet, Inc. Performances will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10th at 5:00 PM and Sunday, Dec. 11th at 3:00 PM at the Performing Arts Hall at Gulf Coast High School. Auditions were held September 17th to fill all the roles and rehearsals have been underway for the past eight weeks.
“This year’s production has been a bit more ambitious than in years past and as it comes together should make for a very entertaining show”, said Christophe Maraval, artistic director for Naples Academy of Ballet and choreographer for the Nutcracker. Taylor Dutcher, this year’s Sugar Plum Fairy added, “This production’s rehearsals have been very tough on a lot of dancers but that kind of hard work brings out the best in everyone which in turn makes for a great experience for the audience.”
Naples Ballet, Inc. was founded in August 2009 and is a non-profit company dedicated to providing the art of ballet as a component of education and promoting cultural enrichment and awareness within the Southwest Florida community. Naples Ballet’s community outreach includes performance opportunities, scholarship programs, and special needs children music/dance programs.
